Mix1 Rider Uses Cyclocross For Offseason Training

Fall is generally the off season for most of the guys as we are a road racing team, so many of the riders are ready for a rest after a long season on the road. But not all members of the Mix1 team are looking for a rest. Team member David K. is one of the braves souls who likes Cyclocross, or simply Cross, as a form of off season traing for road racing. For those who have not seen Cross it is similar to Steeplechase on bikes. most of the course is ridable, but some part are designed to require you to get off and run. As such it is a good cross training activity for road racers. Here are a couple of pictures David supplied from 303 Cycling , from Boulder Racing's cross race this past weekend at the Boulder Reservoir. The pictures do not do the day justice as it was in the mid 30's and snowing on and off all day. David can be seen railing it in the sand (which is very hard to do). Even harder is cleaning your bike after the race! Maybe that is why we are a road racing team, we hate cleaning our bikes!
