This past weekend was the annual ACA Award Party to wrap up the 2009 season. Mix1 was very well represented in the 35 Plus and 45 Plus categories. Jimi Gibson took the top step in the 45 Plus Best All Around Rider (BAR) competition, with Matt Vawter not far behind in 2nd place. In fact the 45 Plus team dominated the entire year with 3 riders in the top 5 (Chris Leggere was 5th) and if the competition was not concerned yet, we also recruited the 4th place rider in Peter Ismert. As a result of their domination the 45 Plus team also ran away with the Best All Around Team (BAT) completion. Congratulation to all the 45 Plus guys.
On the 35 Plus side Matt Segur nailed down 3rd in the BAR award with a strong top 5 in the last race of the year. Marc Holbet managed to place in the top 10, despite racing less then most of the other contenders. The 35 Plus team made a valiant effort to win the BAT title as well (with some help from the ageless wonder Jimi Gibson), but came up 7 points short. None the less a fine 2nd place in the 35 Plus BAT.
The bar has been set very high from 2009. The team is busy training for 2010 and the first races are about a month away. Hopefully the entire Mix1 team can build on a great 2009 and take that into 2010!

Proud Father
For anyone who knows the Mix1 Masters team, you know it is a very family oriented team. Most of the team members are married, have kids, and are balancing life, work, family and racing. We like to think that is one of the things that makes the team work and provides members a good perspective on life and racing. It is also why we use a great product like Mix1 to help in our athletic pursuits
2009 team member Kevin Anderberg's daughter recently won a national championship in cross and now team member Marcel van Garderen's son, Tejay, is making his Pro Tour debut. Tejay has been a top amateur cyclist for a long time and has spent the last few years racing for the development team for the Rabobank Pro Tour team. Tejay had a great year in 2009 and for 2010 stepped up to the Pro Tour level and the #1 team in the world, Columbia-HTC. Proud Papa Marcel sent over this picture his son took of his new jersey at the recent training camp. Pretty impressive Marcel and Tejay. Congratulation to you both and best of luck in 2010 Tejay. Your Dad better make sure he send you some Mix1 to help you get through the rigors of your first Pro Tour season!

Hello 2010
Today is the first day of 2010 and the Mix1 Masters Cycling Team is happy to welcome in a new year. As loyal followers of the blog, and the team, 2009 was a great year for the the team with lots of podiums, a nice group of wins, a Best All Around Rider win for Jimi Gibson in the 45 Plus, a 3rd place in Best All Around Rider for Matt Segur in the 35 Plus, and the best Combined Masters Team in Colorado! (45 Plus won the Best All Around Team completion and the 35 Plus got second). To sum up what a great year 2009 was here is a nice photo of Pete Lucke taking the team's 1st win of 2009, back in April at The Tour Of The Depot in Utah. It may also be the only pure "Victory Salute" photo we got all year! Give Pete extra credit as it was a downhill sprint, in the 53/11, with lots of wind and it was darn cold. The fact he got 1 hand up is impressive. Hopefully the first win of 2010 is not far away.
As 2010 begins the team has been training in a rather cold Boulder, CO. The weather has had riders out on their mountain bikes, cross country skiing, snow snowing, at the gym, riding on the velodrome, and some times even riding on the road. The team is excited to built on so many great things from 2009, to add 4 new riders who we have complete confidence in to help the team out from day one (Peter #2, Matt #3, Josh and Jeff), and to work to improve the areas where we could do better. The first races of 2010 are only 8 weeks away in early March. They maybe only training races, but we have to keep working hard between now and then.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for lots of great news, results, and photos to come in 2010.
